Katrina D. Maxwell

 

Dr. Maxwell is a leading international expert in the area of software development productivity and cost estimation.  Her research has been published in such journals as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, IEEE Software, Management Science and Academic Press' prestigious "Advances in Computers" series. She is the author of Applied Statistics for Software Managers published by Prentice Hall PTR.  A Chinese translation was published by Tsinghua University Press in June 2006.

An excellent communicator known for her skills in simplifying the complicated, she is able to intervene at a very high level in organizations to create a general understanding of IT development productivity and cost measurement issues.  She has taught at the University of Illinois, INSEAD and the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris.  She was Program Chair of the ESCOM-SCOPE 2000 and 2001 conferences, and was a Keynote Speaker at the 2004 IFPUG conference.  
 

Katrina Maxwell received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University.  

After receiving her Ph.D., she decided to apply her quantitative skills to the business world and worked as a management scientist for the M&M/Mars Group analyzing the factors which influence the sales of their products.  

Between 1988-1997 she was a Research Fellow at INSEAD where she undertook research in the areas of economics, business policy, marketing, operations research and technology management.  In 1997, she created DATAMAX to assist others in adding value to their data. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at INSEAD.
